Sash window fittings - fasteners, lifts and locks
Sash windows normally have two sashes that slide up and down inside a frame. The inner lower sash is usually provided with a pair of 'sash lift' handles and the outer upper sash may be fitted with sash handles to hold onto while opening the window. The two sashes are usually fastened together when closed with a 'sash fastener'.
In addition to the dangers associated with a glass breaking thief, a blade can be used to spring back a simple sash window catch. For this reason it is recommend to fit additional sash window locks, stops or bolts. Sash windows can be locked both closed and partially open to allow for ventilation. We offer a comprehensive selection of methods to secure sash windows.
