The available finishes are listed in the drop down box shown with the product. Chrome and Nickel finishes are available to order when 'other plated finishes to order' is listed. Regretfully we have found that images of the different finishes can be misleading and suggest a visit to our showroom is ideal if you are unsure of your requirement..

Remember that It is the in quality of the lacquered brass or plated finishes that British products are different to the very much less expensive imported products available.

Polished brass

Most items are supplied as polished and lacquered brass. Please be aware that our finest quality British polished brass products are provided with an electrophoretic ultra lacquer which provides a vastly more wear resisting finish than traditional wet spray, air drying & stoving lacquers.

Many products can be supplied as non- lacquered brass to special order. These will need regular cleaning/polishing to maintain a bright shiny appearance. If left to weather the brass will age gracefully as the brass oxidizes & forms a natural darker patina.

Chrome plated

Samuel Heath's chrome plated products are hand polished brass, given a primer coating of copper, followed by an undercoat of nickel and finished with a protective hard gloss coating of chromium. The most popular & hard wearing 'shiny silver' finish

Satin chrome plated

Similar to chrome plating but instead the products are given an undercoat of satin nickel. A very popular contemporary sateened 'less shiny silver colour' finish.

Satin nickel plated

This plated finish offers a warmer look sateened silver finish than than satin chrome.

Polished nickel plated 

The ultimate 'warm silver' finish with a deep lustre used when chrome plate can be too stark. This finish is unlacquered and will naturally dull down & form a natural patina over time.

PVD

The most durable bright brass finish, available on a small selection of products normally fitted externally.  

Real Bronze (RBMA)

This is not just a surface finish, This is solid bronze. The unique iridescent patina of this natural finish will, with constant handling, wear down to reveal the beauty of the polished bronze finish below. Traditionally the classic door hardware finish.

Bronze finish (BRZ)

A bronze finish applied on polished brass. It is designed to wear in time to revel a 'rustic' look for period specifications.

Antique brass

A hand applied finish on solid brass, un-lacquered to allow a natural patina to form over time giving each piece individual character.

Bronze metal antique (BMA)

A bronze plated finish on brass which is lacquered to maintain its consistency.
